Are you ready to take your dog to work this Friday? Take Your Dog to Work Day is being celebrated on June 24, 2016. This popular event was founded by Pet Sitters International in 1999 and is traditionally held on the Friday after Father’s Day. You can follow the trending topic on Twitter and document your office’s participation using the hashtag #takeyourdogtoworkday.
By the way, if you are considering a career in pet care you should definitely hop over to the PSI website and take a look at their resources. They offer many perks to their members including educational materials, certification programs, insurance discounts, networking opportunities, and much more.
Take Your Dog to Work Day is a great time to reflect on the various benefits of having pets in the workplace (including reducing stress, increasing employee satisfaction, and reducing employee costs for pet care). A study conducted by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) found that 17 percent of employers identified as “pet friendly workplaces” in a 2008 survey, and that number was only projected to increase. Many major companies including Amazon, Google, and Etsy have policies that allow their employees to bring their pets to work.
